The Israeli Baritone, Yehonatan [Yoni] Haimovich, worked as a math teacher and in a special program for talented kids. He finished his B.A. at the Music Academy and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at the class of Marina Levitt and Pnina Schwarts. He has taken part in international master-classes with such teachers as: Nancy Argenta, Evelyn Tubb, Peter Harvey, Arturo Sergi and many others. He won 2nd place in the Music Academy Competition 2004. He has been awarded America-Israel Cultural Foundation (AICF) scholarships for the years 2002-2005; and participated in the “Ost-West” summer programme scholarship in Germany in 2003. This year (2008 ) he will finish his studies in Mainz, Germany with Professor Hans Christoph Begemann with the support of the fund of Annie Eisler-Lehmann, and studying as well with Thomas Michael Allen and Abbie Furmansky.
Yehonatan Haimovich has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, among which the Luxembourg Philhamonic Orchestra, the Israel Cameratta Jerusalem , the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, the Israeli chamber orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphonic orchestra the Ra'anana Symphonnete, and The Music Academy Orchestra, under the baton of various conductors, such as Andrew Parrott, Stanley Sperber, David Shemer, Ori Leshman, Ron Zarhi, Aahron Charlap and others. He has appeared in the music festivals Abu-Ghosh, Kfar blum and Yechiam. He has also sung solo parts in many other cantatas, oratorios and Lieder recitals in Israel and in Europe.
Yehonatan Haimovich sang the father part in Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, took part as soloist in the opera A Rat’s Laugh by Ella Milch Sheriff and Nava Semel at the Cameri Theatre and the Opera House in the Tel-Aviv Center for the Performing Arts; in the Israel Festival world premiere of the opera Thérèse Raquin by Aharon Charlap; J.S. Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243) and Cantata BWV 21; at the Abu-Gosh Festival in George Frideric Handel’s L’allegro, Il pensieroso ed il moderato; and in Johann Christian Bach’s cantata conducted by Andrew Parrott; at the Kfar Blum Festival and others. In 2006, he sang as a soloist this in J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) with the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem under Hermann Max, and in Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) under Yuval Ben-Ozer, as well as a recital concert at the Jerusalem Music Center.
During 2007 Yehonatan Haimovich took part in the production of Der 35 Mai by V. Dinesco in Mainz opera house and in a unique project of pieces by Mozart with the support of the foundation “Villa Musica”. He took part as well in the oratorio Der Rose Pilgefahrt by Robert Schumann at the Rheinsberg festival. Recently he took part in the international opera summer program in Tel Aviv-Yafo in the production of the Magic Flute as the Sprecher. Next year (2008-2009)) in Mainz and Rudolstatdt he will perform as Simone in the opera Gianni Schicchi by Puccini. |
