The Argentinean soprano, Silvana Victoria Guatelli, studied at Colegio Nacional Nº1 Simon Bolivar (Class of 1990). She was a member and soloist of the Coro de Niños del Teatro Colón (Children's Choir of the Colón Theatre), under the direction of Valdo Sciamarella. She performed the Shepherd Boy in Bomarzo by Alberto Ginastera, the Child in Elias by Felix Mendelssohn, and Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, among others. She studied music and singing at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música Carlos López Buchardo with África de Retes and Delia Rigal (Class of 1990). The Teatro Colón Foundation granted her in 2004 and 2005 a scholarship to study with Marisa Albano and Susana Cardonnet. She also studied vocal technique with Silvina Sadoly, and the counter-tenor Martin Oro, and currently taking lessons with Rosa Dominguez (Geneva).
Silvana Guatelli specializes in Baroque Historic aesthetic, both in the European Baroque and Latin American Baroque. She was a member of Sociedad Haendel de Buenos Aires, and a member of the ensemble In Dulci Jubilo, dedicated to Renaissance and Baroque repertoire.
As a soloist, Silvana Guatelli has sung the Requiem and Mass in C major Dominicus by W.A. Mozart; Magnificat (BWV 243) and Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) by J.S. Bach; George Frideric Handel's oratorios Esther, Alexander Ballus, Theodora, Belshazzar, Alexander's Feast, Dixit Dominus, Ode to St. Cecilia; and works (operas and oratorios) by Purcell, Dietrich Buxtehude, Heinrich Schütz, Monteverdi, Carissimi, and so on. She has performed cunder the baton of Gabor Ötvös, Manfredo Kraemer, Antonio M. Russo, Sergio Siminovich, etc.
In 2008 and 2009, Silvana Guatelli sang in the province of Santa Fe's the oratorios Belshazzar and Semele, both by G.F. Handel, with the Coro Polifónico Provincial de Santa Fe. In 2010 and 2011, respectively, she was invited to sing the oratorios Semele and Judas Maccabeus for CIMA (Centro Italiano di Musica Antica) in Rome (Italy) and was called by the conductor Gabriel Garrido to participate in a documentary realised and issued by the French channel Arte and the closing concert of Les Chemins du Barroque, filmed in Yaguarón and Jesús de Tavarengué (Paraguay) as member of the Ensemble Elyma (Geneva). In 2012 she participated in the Bach-Vivaldi Festival, and in n 2013, the Ciclo Nacional de Música de Cámara, sponsored by the Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación (Ministry of Culture of the Nation).
Currently, Silvana Guatelli operates as a soloist in various groups. Integra Buenos Ayres Consort (Director: Pablo Banchi);the ensemble Cappella Barocca (Director: Juan Florentino La Moglie); Batutta Uno and Sospiri Barocche (Director of both: Mariano Irschick). She is also a member of the ensemble Selva Arcana, the first group of early music in the city of Posadas (Misiones), under the musical direction of Mariano Irschick. This ensemble is part of the project of edition Selva Arcana, directed by Santiago Suarez, dedicated to the transcription and editing of new works, always within the repertoire of the 1600's and 1700's. She is also a member of Ensamble Támiris. She currently lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. |
