The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Matthias Grünert, studied after high school studied church music A, singing and concert organ at the Kirchenmusikhochschule in Bayreuth and at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck. After the A-studies, he concluded with solo exams in organ with Professor KMD Hartmut Rohmeyer at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Master-classes with F. Tagliavini, J. Laukvik, Michael Radulescu among others complemented his organ studies.
During his studies, Matthias Grünert was an assistant at Lübecker Dom and church musician at St. Petri in Luftkurort Bosau.. He presented the concert series at the Konzertreihe Bosauer Sommerkonzerte, which developed under his leadership to regional popular cycle. From 2000 to 2004 he held the post of city and regional Kantor at St. Marien in Greiz amd in 2003 performed at at the local Stadtkirche the complete organ works of J.S. Bach.
In 2004, Matthias Grünert was appointed the first Kantor of the Frauenkirche in Dresden and took office on January 1, 2005. Since then, he is the artistically responsible for all church music events at the Frauenkirche. He founded the Großen Chor (large choir) of over 100 singers, the Kammerchor der Frauenkirche (chamber choir) and with the musicians from the Dresden Staatskapelle Dresdner Philharmonie the Ensemble Frauenkirche (instrumental ensemble). They make regularly the worship choruses, clergy music on Sundays and concerts at the Frauenkirche. He made tours with the Kammerchor der Frauenkirche that took him to France, Italy and Japan. He is the winner of various organ competitions, including the Internationalen Wettbewerb für Kirchenmusikerinnen und Kirchenmusiker 2000. Many concerts as an organist, conductor and harpsichordist at home and abroad characterize his artistic career as a musician.
With his CD "Vom Himmel hoch" released from the Frauenkirche on November 6, Matthias Grünert presented his Kammerchor der Frauenkirche, the Ensemble Frauenkirche and the organ in the Frauenkirche in Dresden. Handel year saw another CD recording from the Frauenkirche: the oratorio Jephtha with the Kammerchor der Frauenkirche, Dresdner Barockorchester and renowned soloists under the direction of Matthias Grunert. In addition, numerous CD, television and radio broadcasts document his musical work.
Since the winter semester 2008-2009, Matthias Grünert has taught organ at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden. |
