The French soprano, Cécile Granger, started by taking piano and accompaniment classes and got her DEM in 2003. Meanwhile, she studied voice in the class of baritone Alain Buet and graduated in 2007. She continued her training with soprano Stéphanie Révidat and entered Howard Crook's early music class then Isabelle Poulenard's class at the Paris CRR.
As a soloist, Cécile Granger sang Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with the ensemble Akadêmia Ensemble directed by Françoise Lasserre at the Bach Academy of Arques-la-Bataille, at the Folles Journées de Bach Festival in Lutry she sang J.S. Bach's Motet Jesu, meine Freude (BWV 227) with the ensemble Les Lunaisiens, at the Festival Bach à Pâques Dietrich Buxtehude’s
Membra Jesu Nostri with the Sainte-Cécile Academy directed by Philippe Couvert, but also J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) in London with the New London Orchestra directed by Ronald Corp.
Cécile Granger sang Purcell’s King Arthur at the Nantes Cité des Congrès under the direction of Paul Colléaux, Boccherini’s Stabat Mater at the Rencontres Musicales Festival in Figeac with the Metropolia Orchestra from Helsinki conducted by Pekka Helasvo. She regularly sings some Masses and Oratorios, such as: J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245) (director Pierre Bleuse), George Frideric Handel’s Messiah (director Hugo Reyne), J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) (director Lionel Sow), W.A. Mozart’s Requiem and Great Mass in C minor, Heinrich Schütz’ Symphoniae Sacrae with Les Saqueboutiers from Toulouse…
Since 2014, Cécile Granger has performed numerous times with Les Arts Florissants directed by William Christie and Paul Agnew (G.F. Handel’s Theodora and Messiah, J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) …) and has sung in some of the world’s greatest venues : Lincoln Center in New-York, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam…
Cécile Granger just finished touring with Lully’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, directed by Denis Podalydès and conducted by Christophe Coin. The comédie-ballet was performed more than 200 times, from Les Bouffes du Nord Theatre in Paris to the Lincoln Center in New-York, to Beijing, Hong Kong, Moscow… She recently sang in Menuet, a contemporary opera by Daan Janssens directed by Fabrice Murgia combining video and electronic music, in which she played one of the three main parts. The opera should be performed again at the Brussels National Theatre, in Strasbourg and in Luxembourg in 2018. In 2018, she will sing in Jeptha at the Palais Garnier in Paris. She currently lives in Paris, France. |
