The Swiss tenor, Emiliano Gonzalez-Toro, was born in Geneva, the son of Chilean parents. He studied voice, piano and oboe at the Conservatories of Geneva and Lausanne, where he received his virtuoso diploma in 2000 with the jury’s congratulations.
Emiliano Gonzalez-Toro made his first public appearances under the direction of Michel Corboz in the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. Since then he has worked with conductors such as William Christie, Marc Minkowski, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset, René Jacobs and Gabriel Garrido. His area of specialisation is Baroque music. He enthusiastically sings the Evangelist roles in the J.S. Bach Passions, as well as some roles in the great operas of Monteverdi. |
