The Japanese pianist, Shoko Göltinger (Japanese: ゲルティンガー 祥子), graduated from Toho Girls' High School Music Department. She studied under Michiko Shoji, Yoko Okumura, and Mamiko Suda. She then studied under Annerose Schmidt, whom she met as a child, and graduated from Hans Eisler College of Music Berlin with unanimous best grades, and obtained German national musician qualification. She also studied with Peter Rösel at the Dresden National College of Music, and completed the Meister class. She has also attended master-classes with Evgeny Marinin, Roman Ortner, Anjay Yasinski, Kazuko Yasukawa, Jacques Rouvier, Germaine Meunier, Jun Kanno, Bruno Canino, Peter Lang and Daniel Barenboim.
After winning numerous domestic and international competitions, Shoko Göltinger has performed with the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, Alcan Quartet (Canada), etc., and has performed at the Bayreuth Easter Music Festival, Dresden Music Festival, Berlin Contemporary Music Forum, etc. She performs solo and chamber music recitals not only in Europe but all over the world.
In 2000, Shoko Göltinger was invited by the then Minister of Education of Syria to perform programs in various parts of Syria and Lebanon, consisting of works by Arab and Japanese composers. Her groundbreaking attempts and highly complete performances have been well received in the media, including the world premiere of contemporary works commissioned by a number of Arab composers in France.
Shoko Göltinger is currently based in Japan and teaches her younger generation, and is also active in the fields of solo, chamber music and REIT accompaniment. She has performed with major domestic orchestras, as well as principal players and invited artists such as the Dresdner Philharmonie and the Wiener Philharmoniker.
In June 2018, Shoko Göltinger released a CD of two piano versions (Rheinberger / Reger) of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations (BWV 988). The Yomiuri Shimbun "Sounds BOX" recommended edition, "Record art" special edition, and "Music contemporary" attention edition have been introduced in national newspapers and have been highly evaluated. |
