Michael Goede (Choral Conductor, Organ)

Born: 1973 - Hamburg, Germany

The German choral conductor and organist, Michael Goede, received his first organ lessons and instruction in the subjects of church music by his father KMD Rainer Goede in Ansbach (Middle Franconia). From 1994 to 1999 he studied church music (A-exam) with Professor Gisbert Schneider (organ) and Professor Ralf Otto (choral conducting) at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen. He completed his education by attending numerous courses.

Since 1996 Michael Goede has been Kantor and organist in the Dorfkirche (village church) in Bochum-Stiepelmann, which celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2008. The focus of the church musical work by Goede is the liturgy consistently related and thereby varied design of the Sunday services. In addition to the liturgical and artistic organ, the worship includes since 1996 cantatas with works by Dietrich Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel, Christoph Graupner and Römhildt, among others. The professional Baroque ensemble Caterva Musica, whose continuo player Michael Goede is since 2000, is a firm support.

In addition to the liturgical work Michael Goede is responsible for a variety of concert events of historical significance in the Church. These include organ, choral and chamber concerts, which take place in the annuual "Stiepeler Konzertnacht " and since 2005 in the "Stiepeler Orgelwoche".

In January 2003, Michael Goede was appointed organ expert of the Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen (Evangelical Church of Westphalia).

On the Kirschner organ, inaugurated in 2004, Michael Goede could realize his musical ideas in collaboration with the organ builder Harm Dieder Kirschner. Thanks to its musical conception, this organ is the consistent focus on the sound ideal of the early 18th century, the most convincing New organs of the past year.

Comment:
There is also an American choral conductor, Michael F. Goede.
