The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Klaus Geitner, studied in Munich, Augsburg and Salzburg (Mozarteum) church music and choral conducting. He attended related courses with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Hermann Max, Michael Radulescu, Harald Vogel, Ton Koopman, Marie-Claire Alain, Jean Langlais, Daniel Roth, Gaston Litaize, Zsigmond Szathmáry and Guy Bovet.
Since 1983, Klaus Geitner serves as Kantor and organist at the Himmelfahrtskirche in München-Sendling. In 1989, this post converted into a full-time church musician at the Dean's office in South-Munich. In 1990 he founded the ensemble Il Concerto Piccolo, based on the performance practice of the 17th and 18th Centuries in Europe. In 1994, the Eule organ was installed at the Himmelfahrtskirche, whose construction he decisively influenced and had led. In 2007, he was appointed Dekanatskantor. In 2009 he was appointed Church Music Director (KMD). As Dekanatskantor for South-Munich, he is primarily concerned in education and training activities.
Every year Klaus Geitner organizes an extensive and varied musical programme at the Himmelfahrtskirche in München-Sendling. Here he has worked together with several renowned orchestras like the Münchner Symphoniker and Capella Istropolitana (Bratislava). Radio and CD recordings, and concerts at home and abroad complement his artistic activity. |
