The German harpsichordist, Gösta Funck, began early to take an interest in the harpsichord, winning a third national prize at "Jugend musiziert". He studied historical keyboard instruments in Würzburg with Glen Wilson, and in Cologne with Ketil Haugsand. He completed his studies in master-classes with Bob van Asperen, Jesper B. Christensen and Lars Ulrik Mortensen.
As a soloist and continuo player Gösta Funck working with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Capella Vitalis Berlin, Concerto Brandenburg, Telemannisches Collegium Michaelstein, etc. at home and abroad. Various production have led him to the Hamburgische Staatsoper (Ein musikalisches Bankett with cantatas by J. S. Bach), Theater für Vorarlberg/Bregenz (Mr. Bach, Mr. Bach with Goldberg Variations BWV 988), Westfälische Landestheater Castrop-Rauxel and Theater Poetenpack/Potsdam. He also appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Dresdner Musikfestspielen and Tagen Alter Musik Regensburg.
From 1999 to 2006, Gösta Funck was Artistic Director of the Early Music concert series Foundation Landdrostei in Pinneberg/Hamburg. In the Bach Year 2000, he co-operated with the Würzburg painter Andi Schmitt, whose exhibition titled "Variations" in a conceptual connection with the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988) was an outstanding event.
Gösta Funck has a special passion for the clavichord. In solo concerts, but also in unusual combinations with flute, or lute, he knows how to convince. He is a member of the German Clavichord Society.
