The American pianist and piano teacher, Benjamin Downs, has, Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and DMA degrees in in Piano Performance. As a Doctoral Fellow in The Fulbright Program, his Dissertation included research in Leipzig, several other German cities, Basel, and Salzburg. He is PhD Candidate at Stony Brook University since 2014.
Benjamin Downs has over 15 years of experience teaching all levels, from complete beginner to budding professionals. He hass taught at the Universities of Illinois, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Stony Brook University as well as high-level community music schools in the New York City area. His students have gone on to study at Juilliard and the Manhattan School of Music. He tries to challenge my students within a nurturing environment. By teaching each student, focusing on his or her strengths rather than a specific curriculum, he tries to help them take ownership of their learning.
Benjamin Downs has taught 2 years at the University of Illinois (2004-2006); 3 years at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (2007-2010); 4 years at the Musical Arts Center (2006-2010); 4 years at Stony Brook University (2010-2014); and 4 years at the Port Jefferson Music Academy (2010-2014). He has also taught privately in my own studio since 2000. He currently lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota. |
