The German tenor, Thomas Dorn, studied with Yaron Windmüller in Saarbrücken. He is a scholarship holder of the Bruno- & Elisabeth Meindl-Stiftung and has attended master-classes with James Taylor, Thomas Heyer, Moritz Eggert and Peter Schöne. He has received further inspiration from Liora Maurer (New York), Ruth Ziesak and Ichiro Nakayama (Tokyo), among others.
Praised as a "consistently soulful evangelist" (Saarbrücker Zeitung), Thomas Dorn has established himself as a concert and opera singer. His repertoire ranges from J.S. Bach's great passions and numerous cantatas to Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, from new music to French and German Romanticism back to the early Baroque. He has been able to demonstrate his ability to develop and convey various roles and characters ("With a great sense of the hero's emotional state", Pirmasenser Zeitung) on many occasions both in music theater and on the concert stage. Projects in the field of early and especially contemporary music are a particular focus of his activities. Concerts have taken him to places within Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. He has also performed in Spain and in 2019 made his debut at the Tiroler Festspielen in Austria in a highly acclaimed production of Moritz Eggert's opera Caliban.
As a former member of the Augsburger Domsingknaben, Thomas Dorn is a sought-after singer in small or solo ensembles such as the Schola Heidelberg, ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck) and others. He has sung works from all eras, from the 15th century to the present day. |
