The American soprano, Emily Diehl, began her performing career at the historic Fulton Opera House as a daughter in The Pirates of Penzance and went on to sing in The King and I and Ragtime on the same stage. She began studying classically shortly thereafter with baritone John Darrenkamp at The Pennsylvania Academy of Music, and later with soprano Katie Wieand. Upon graduating from high school, she received a music scholarship from the Esther Boyer College of Music of Temple University in Philadelphia to study with mezzo soprano Lorie Gratis, graduating in 2010. While there, she performed in A Month in the Country, The Cunning Little Vixen, covered the role of Despina from W.A. Mozart's Cos fan Tutte, and sang Adina in L'elisir D'Amore. She is a recipient of the Clara Meyers VoiceScholarship and graduated in January of 2011.
Emily Diehl is an emerging classical crossover artist who combines a love of opera, musical theater, and popular music in her performing activities. Recently she held a young artist position at the prestigious CoOPERAtive Program in Princeton, New Jersey. Following this engagement, she won a full scholarship to perform as a soloist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center with the Broadway Dreams Foundation. Most recently, she performed in Stephen Sondheim's Side by Side in Northeast Philadelphia. She currently resides in Philadelphia. |
