Orchestra Collegium Philarmonicum (= OCP; Collegium Philarmonicum Chamber Orchestra) is composed of young musicians from all over the Campania Region, using the experience of professors of the Teatro di San Carlo and Conservatori campani. OCP, which was founded in 1995, principally for the promotion of music of the 20 century, has since expanded its repertoire, ranging from the music of the 17th century to the present day, in addition to many first executions of works by Campania composers. It has come to specialise in Neapolitan music of the 18th and early 19th century written for an ensemble of this kind.The permanent conductor is Gennaro Cappabianca.
Since 2003 OCP has participated in important events sponsored by prestigious organizations such as the Regione Campania, the Amministrazione Provinciale di Napoli, Salerno, Caserta, the Comune di Napoli, Avellino, Caserta, etc. Among its performances are the Festival “Musica al Teatro Romano”, Festival delle Ville Vesuviane, Napoli in Festa Provincia in Testa, Leuciana Festival, Musica in Irpinia, the inaugural concert of the music scene under the aegis of the Mayor of Naples On Rosa Russo Iervolino, the Christmas concert held at Sala Scarlatti Conservatorio S. Pietro in Majella of Naples etc. In January 2007, OCP was invited as a guest orchestra at the conference promoted by the Advisory Council for Youth Policies of the Campania Region, "Le imprese per i ragazzi", an important event that took part in the Minister for Youth Policies, Giovanna Melandri, Regional Councilor for Youth Policies, Rosa D'Amelio, Governor of Campania, Antonio Bassolino and Cardinal of Naples Bishop Crescenzio Sepe. In October 2007 the orchestra performed for the day Religioni senza violenza (Religions without violence) organized by the Community of S. Egidio, which had such guests, representatives of the Christian Churches and the great religions of all continents and the presence of the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, who in May 2008 conferred on this reality a medal. In that same year OCP participated in La Bibbia giorno e notte (The Bible Day and Night) program broadcast by Rai 1 and Rai Edu. In 2009, for the XIV edition of Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival, OCP performed under the baton of W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. OCP has also been a supporting orchestra at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico di Ercolano (Na) "Ritorna Vincitor", and always at Ercolano presso Villa Campolieto realized the l’Elisir d’amore by G. Donizetti, la Boheme by G. Puccini under the baton of Alberto Veronesi. On December 16, 2011 OCP participated at Piazza del Plebiscito (Naples) in “Giornata conclusiva dell’Anno Giubilare” (Concluding Day of the Jubilee Year) at the Presence of His Eminence, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, with an orchestra of 250 young musicians from all over the Campania Region.
The Orchestra Giovanile Collegium Philarmonicum (Collegium Philarmonicum Youth Orchestra) has collaborated with: Michele Campanella, Francesco Nicolosi, Monica Leone, Oliver Kern, Todor Petrov, Peppe Barra, Giovanni Sollima, Dejan Bogdanovich, Pierre Xuereb, Miriam dal Don, Stefano Pagliani, Mariano Rigillo, Michele Placido, Stefania Sandrelli, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Gianfranco Iannuzzo, Giulio Scarpati, Sergio Rubini, Isabella Ferrari, and Lina Sastri.
OCP recorded the CD "Obliqua Music", for Naxos two Paisiello's Concertos for piano and orchestra and "Coppola Rossa" with music by Antonello Paliotti. Since 2003 OCP has been the orchestra of the Musicali Musicals course, and has made possible the numerous concerts produced by this initiative, performing successfully at the Certosa of Padula, in historic sites of the Cilento Park, in the municipalities of the nolana area and the Vesuvian area. OCP was also a supporting orchestra for the first edition of the Irpinia Music Festival, sponsored by the Ufficio Scolastico Regionale per la Campania (Regional School Office for Campania). |
