The Italian conductor and violinist, Gennaro Cappabianca, graduated in violin under the guidance of of Carlo Giuntoli, continuing his violin studies further with Farulli, Prencipe, Zanettovich and Faia.
From 1985 to 1988, Gennaro Cappabianca played first violin in the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana di Fiesole (Fiesole Youth Orchestra), performing with other well-known orchestras, including Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra "Arturo Toscanini" di Parma, Orchestra "A. Scarlatti" di Napoli. In 1988, he took up a permanent position with the Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Careful researcher in the field of folk music of Mediterranean tradition, composes and re-composes stage music for prose theater. His collaborations with Maurizio Scaparro and Mariano Rigillo on Viviani, Lorca and Di Giacomo's lyrics are of great success. Gennaro Cappabianca has cpllaborated with the actors Mariano Rigillo, Franco Nero, Michele Placido, Fanny Ardant, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Gianfranco Iannuzzo, Stefania Sandrelli, Isabella Ferrari, Beppe Barra, Sergio Rubini, Cloris Brosca, Lina Sastri, Gianni Lamagna, Lello Giulivo; the soprano Maria Dragoni; the contralto Daniele del Monaco; the baritone Bruno De Simone; the cellists Giovanni Sollima, Luigi Piovano, Alain Meunier and Sonia Wieder-Atherton; the pianists Michele Campanella, Francesco Nicolosi, Monica Leone, Oliver Kern, Todor Petrov and Antonello Cannavale; the violinists Dejan Bogdanovich, Miriam dal Don, Stefano Pagliani, Alberto Maria Ruta, Fabrizio Falasca; the violist Pierre Xuereb; the composer Horacio Salinas (Inti Illimani), Eugenio Bennato, Lino Cannavacciuolo. With the Solisti del San Carlo he recorded in 2001 the CD "Music Oblique" and in 2004 Coppola Rossa music by Antonello Paliotti, in 2003 for Naxos 2 Concertos of Paisiello for piano and orchestra.
Gennaro Cappabianca made his debut as a conductor of opera with the Orchestra Laboratorio Lirico di Orvieto in Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana", later on in Cappella Maestro by Cimarosa. Still with "Cavalleria" he has performed in Turin for the Orchestra "Città di Scafati", of which he is also a director of the orchestral qualification course. On December 16, 2011, he participated in the "Concluding Day of the Jubilee Year" at the Presence of His Eminence Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, conducting the Orchestra Giovanile Collegium Philarmonicum (Collegium Philarmonicum Youth Orchestra) composed for the occasion by 250 young musicians from The entire Campania region. From 1999 to 2010, Gennaro Cappabianca is also the conductor "I Cantori di Posillipo". Attentive to the teaching of young people he collaborates with numerous professional qualification projects with the Orchestra Giovanile Collegium Philarmonicum as a permanent conductor and Artistic Director. His wide repertoire as a conductor extends from sacred to operatic, from chamber music to symphony, with particular attention to 20th century music. |
