The Brazilian conductor and violist, William Cohelho, Studied at Universidade Federal de Alfenas - MG (Class of 2006); obtained his Bachelor of Music degree major in Band/Orchestra Conducting at Universidade de São Paulo (USP) (January 2014-July 2016); and his Master of Arts degree in Musicology from USP, also studied there Ethno-Musicology. He studied Conducting at Academia de Regência da OSESP (March 2016-December 2017) and obtained his Doctor degree in Musicology from USP (January 2017-2020).
William Cohelho is Director of the OSESP - Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (since December 2017) and Chief Conductor of EOS Música Antiga USP (since April 2014), an orchestra specializing in repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. He was assistant conductor of the Coral e da Orquestra de Câmara da ECA-USP; Professor of choral conducting at the postgraduate course at Faculdade Paulista de Artes in São Paulo (since March 2017); Professor of harmony, counterpoint and perception at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (2018); Professor of choral singing at UNESP and guest professor at Academia de Regência da Osesp. He is guest conductor of orchestras such as the Sinfônica da USP São Paulo (2016-2018) and the Sinfônica de Piracicaba. He was a finalist for the 2019 Young Talent Award, by Revista Concerto. In 2020, he conducted the Coro da Osesp at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil. |
