The German conductor and organist, Andreas Cavelius, studied church music and private music education at the Musikhochschule des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken with Professor André Luy (organ), Professor Hans Lonnendonker (theory) and Professor Herbert Schmolzi (conducting). After the music teacher diploma (1983) and the Kantor A-exam (1985), he completed a postgraduate courses at with Professor Volker Hempfling (choral and orchestral conducting) and Professor Andreas Rohkopf (master-class for organ, concert diploma in 1986 with distinction). He was twice prize-winner at the Walter-Gieseking-Wettbewerb, Saarbrücken.
Andreas Cavelius was initially a church musician in Hausweiler and Saarbrücken. Then, in 1987, he was appointed as Kantor of the Hauptpfarrkirche St. Dionysius in Krefeld. His services there are arranged with church-musical groups under his direction: children's choir, flute ensemble, Vokalensemble St. Dionysius, Krefeld, Choralschola, church choir and wind instrument orchestra. Since 1995 he also directs the Schönhausen-Chor, Krefeld.
Andreas Cavelius has participated in productions with organ, choir and chamber music with the Saarländischen Rundfunk and with the Westdeutschen Rundfunk. Resuming of his organ studies led him to Michael Schneider (Köln) and Daniel Roth (Paris). An extensive concert activity and several CD recordings round off his artistic activity.
Since 1991 Andreas Cavelius holds "Sonderkirchenmusikerstelle für Orgel im Bistum Aachen", and since 1995 he is also a lecturer for organ playing at the Katholischen Hochschule für Kirchenmusik St. Gregorius Aachen. |
