Capella Thuringia is dedicated to the repertoire of the 16th to 18th centuries in various instrumental ensembles. From soloist chamber ensemble through consort to the Baroque orchestra, Capella Thuringia has the right ensemble for the respective repertoire. Thus, the historical instruments are adapted to the temporal and geographical requirements of the music.
The ensemble performs at international festivals in various European countries and produces CD, radio and television recordings. The ensemble is musically directed by its founders Bernhard Klapprott and Christoph Dittmar.
According to its name, there is a special focus on Central German music. Thus, the ensemble has performed many rediscovered works for the first time and was able to present together with Cantus Thuringia on CPO label several first recordings, such as the Weihnachts-Oratorium and Neujahrs-Oratorium by Georg Gebel d.J. (Rudolstadt, 1748), Matthäus-Passion by by Johann Christoph Rothe (Sondershausen, 1697) and the CD "Triumph, ihr Christen seid erfreut" with cantatas by George Frideric Handel and his teacher Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow. |
