Jonathan Bryan (Baritone)

Born: Dallas, Texas, USA

The American baritine, Jonathan Bryan, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University (2014), where he studied under the mentorship of Dennis Jesse. He currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana, where he studies with world-renowned baritone Wolfgang Brendel, while pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (expected graduaion in 2018). Awards include: HGO Eleanor McCollum Competition Semi-Finalist 2017.

Jonathan Bryan has performed many leading operatic roles, including the title character in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Danilo in Lehár's The Merry Widow, Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, and Don Crisobolo in Cimarosa's L'impresario in angustie. Other roles include Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Owen Hart in Heggie's Dead Man Walking, Rambaldo in Puccini's La Rondine, and Besac in Romberg's The New Moon, among others.

In addition to the operatic stage, Jonathan Bryan has made numerous concert appearances, most recently with the National Symphony Orchestra, performing excerpts from Sondheim's A Little Night Music as Frederik, as well as various patriotic selections in their "America the Beautiful" concert collaboration with Wolf Trap Opera. Other concert engagements include bass soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Georgina Joshi Foundation's Handel Project, baritone soloist in Rossini's Petite messe solennelle with the Indiana University Singers, and baritone soloist in Finzi's Lo, the Full Final Sacrifice, with the C.S. Lewis Choral Institute in Oxford, England. He has had the pleasure of singing under the baton of numerous renowned conductors, including Arthur Fagen, David Neely, Michael Borowitz, John Dickson, and Betsy Burleigh.
