The German conductor, Marcus R. Bosch, was born in Germany to German-Brazilian parents. Already as a child he learned to play the piano, clarinet, double bass and the organ. As a double bass player he was a member of the Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg. From 1990 to 1995 he studied piano, double bass, conducting and musicology at theMusikhochschule Heidelberg-Mannheim. His conducting teachers were Prof. W. Seeliger, Professor K. Arp, Prof. K. Eisenmann and Professor Frieder Bernius. He joined master-classes of Leos Svarovsky, Arnold Katz and Petr Vronsky. In 1993 he won the first conducting competition of the universities of Baden-Württemberg.
In 1990 Marcus R. Bosch founded choir and orchestra "vocapella", an ensemble which he still leads. There are several critically acclaimed CDs of "vocapella" (Messiah, Ein deutsches Requiem, Elias). From 1993 to 2002 he was also music director of the Beethoven Choir in Ludwigshafen.
Marcus R. Bosch had his first contracts as a conductor at the Heidelberger Schloßfestspiele and at the Theater im Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen. In 1994 he became a member of the Osnabrück Stadttheater. From 1996 to 2000 he was 2nd conductor at the Wiesbaden State Opera. From 1998 to 2001 he was 1st conductor of the Halle Philharmonic State Orchestra. In 1999 he became Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Bünden Chamber Orchestra in Chur (Switzerland).
From 2000 to 2002 Marcus R. Bosch was 1st conductor and representative of the Music Director at the Saarbrücken State Opera. In 2001/2002 he conducted 9 opera productions and 3 concerts in Saarbrücken. During 2001/2002 he also conducted the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hanover at the Hamburg Musichall, the Aachen Symphony, Bochum Symphony and Dalaware Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2002-2003 season Marcus R. Bosch is General Music Director of the City of Aachen. He is responsible for the opera program of the Aachen Theatre as well as for the concert season of the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. In the 2002-2003 season he was invited to conduct the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Berliner Symphoniker, Rheinische Philharmonie, Staatsphilharmonie Ludwigshafen, Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta and Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra.
The season 2003-2004 started with his Tonhalle Zürich debut with the Staatsphilharmonie Ludwigshafen. In October 2003 he made his debut in Spain conducting Gluck´s Orfeo and Euridice in Palma de Mallorca and he returns to Spain for a concert with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia in May 2004. He is invited to conduct in Mexico, Florence, Prague, Berlin, Essen, Cologne, Dortmund…
For EMI he recorded a CD with the Halle Philharmonic Orchestra and Otto Sauter (Baroque trumpet concertos and arias) which was released in 2003. |
