The Italian soprano, Alice Borciani, graduated in trumpet and in singing at the conservatory of Reggio Emilia. She specialized in Baroque vocal repertoire with Monica Piccinini and attended the Masterclass in Baroque Choir held by the Accademia Bizantina of Ravenna with Ottavio Dantone. In 2012 she graduated with distinction at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under the guidance of Gerd Türk. She is currently studying with Carlos Mena and Roswitha Müller. In 2005 she won the International Music Competition "Premio Città di Padova". In december 2010 she won the Third Prize in the International competition of Baroque singing "Francesco Provenzale" in Napoli organized by the Cappella Pietà dei Turchini. In 2013, with the ensemble Cafebaum, she won the first prize at the Göttingen Händel-Festspiele competition for young ensembles of Baroque music.
Alice Borciani started the choral activity at very young age. Among her first performances as soloist it’s worth mentioning the role of Amore in Monteverdi’s Il ballo delle Ingrate in Guastalla (Italy) also recorded for Arion (Paris) in 1995. She sang the role of the Angel in La Resurrezione by George Frideric Handel under the guidance of Diego Fasolis. In 2010 she made her debut as Satirino in La Calisto at the Theater Basel (Switzerland) under the direction of Andrea Marcon. In the same year she sang the title role in Cappuccetto Rosso by Carlo Boccadoro in Modena (Italy). In 2011 and 2012 was Barbarina in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Schlosstheater in Potsdam (Germany) under the direction of Sergio Azzolini. In 2012 she sang in The Fairy Queen at the Theater Basel with La Cetra Barockorchester Basel conducted by Andrea Marcon.
Between the last performances concerts at Ravello festival, Fringe festival in Utrecht, Ambronay festival, concerts in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland with different ensembles and conductors like Andrea Marcon, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Paolo Pandolfo and Leonardo García-Alarcón. In 2013, she sang under the baton of Jordi Savall in Barcelona with La Capella Reial de Catalunya.
Alice Borciani is a member of the Zürcher Sing-Akademie, of the Vokalensemble La Cetra and of the Choeur de Chambre de Namur (Director: Jean Tubéry), and Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann). She is a member of several chamber ensembles: Il Zabaione musicale (Italian music from the 17th century for voices and continuo group), Philomèle (Italian music from the 17th century for voice, flute, cornetto and continuo group) and Il Bell'humore (Vocal and instrumental music from the XVI century, improvisation and a lot more...).
Alice Borciani is also interested in contemporary music and she has taken part in various operas, concerts and first performances of contemporary pieces. She currently lives in Basel, Switzerland. |
