The Chilean-Italian soprano, Catalina Bertucci Mora, studied voice at the Universidad Católica in Chile under M. Soledad Díaz (Class of 2004); graduated from her postgraduate studies at Hochschule für Musik Köln with Professor Barbara Schlick (Class of 2009); and graduated from her graduate recitals at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold with Professor Gerhild Romberger (2010-2012). In addition, she took part of master-classes with Andreas Scholl, Hedwig Fassbender, Angelika Kirchschlager, Margreet Honig and András Schiff, among others.
She won the second place, audience award and Orchestra Award at the 3. International Singing Competition "Vokal Genial", with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester in October 2011. In Viña del Mar, Chile in 2008 she won first place, the audience award, and the prize for best interpretation of the required modern repertoire at the 35th International Music Competition Dr. Luis Sigall.
With her radiant, mellow voice, Catalina Bertucci has made herself a name on the musical scene. Her outstanding talent has rapidly drawn considerable attention. She was engaged as an ensemble member at Landestheater Detmold (August 2009-August 2012), where she sang the most important roles of her "Fach". After this period, she started freelancing as a singer in 2012, and has performed in the most well-known auditoriums, opera houses and festivals in South America in Europe. She sang under the baton of Diego Fasolis at the Opéra de Lausanne (May-June 2015; Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte), and has made guest appearances at at the Semperoper Dresden (Feuersnot), Staatstheater Darmstadt (2012-2014; Ring des Nibelungen and Parsifal), Teatro Municipal de Santiago (October 2012-June 2019; W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Igor Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress, La Bohème), Staatsoperette Dresden (June 2014; currently: Die Zauberflöte and W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Cagliostro in Wien), Staatstheater Cottbus (Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel), Theater Freiburg and Royal Theatre Norwich (Parsifal), Theater Ulm (Der Wildschütz), Teatro Regional de Rancagua (W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni); at the Händelfestspiele Halle, Ekhof-Festival (Acis and Galatea) and Knechtsteden Early Music Festival; at the Vienna Volksoper (in Die Zauberflöte and Gianni Schicchi) and State Operetta House of Dresden. In 2019 she sang her début as Sophie in Strauss' Rosenkavalier at Santiago Municipal Theater (Chile).
As a soloist Catalina Bertucci has performed in the most important concert halls, festivals and theaters in Chile and Germany with the greatest oratorio works such of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, Haydn, Johannes Brahms, Rossini and Dvorak. She has has concertized several times with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig as well as with the Thomanerchor Leipzig under Thomaskantor Gotthold Schwarz (December 2016), and has gone on tour singing secular J.S. Bach cantatas with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra conducted by Ton Koopman (December 2016-January 2017), including appearances at Vienna Konzerthaus and the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall. In 2016-2017 she made her debut with the pianist Jeremy Menuhin (Ton Koopman's Concert Arias, under Vincent de Kort). In 2019 she gave a vocal recital at the Musical Weeks in Frutillar (Chile) accompanied by renowned pianist Helmut Deutsch.
Catalina Bertucci is featured in several CD productions including Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 for the New Yorker Label Mode; Carl Reinecke’s Dornröschen (CPO); at the Early Music Festival Knechtsteden with Concerto Köln under Hermann Max (Luther in Worms, CPO); and at the Prinzregententheater in Munich with Richard Strauss' opera Feuersnot with the Munich Radio Orchestra under Ulf Schirmer (CPO). |
