The Swedish trumpeter, conductor, arranger and composer, Frans Berglund, began his first musical education early at the boy's choir of the Royal Opera House of Stockholm. At the age of six years he began his first trumpet lesson. Afterwards he continued professional trumpet studies at the Royal Music Conservatory of Stockholm with Marc Schrello (1990- 1994). Then, from 1995 to 1999, he was a student in Edward H. Tarr’s master-class for Baroque trumpet at the famous Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland.
Frans Berglund performs regularily with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, as well as a modern trumpeter with renowned conductors, like Jordi Savall, Joshua Rifkin, Konrad Junghänel, Frieder Bernius, Jos van Immerseel and René Jacobs. In 2001, he gained the Baroque trumpet prize at the 2nd International Altenburg Competition in Bad Säckingen, Germany.
Frans Berglund actually lives and works at Basel, as a Baroque and also as a modern trumpeter, conductor, arranger and composer. He performs regularily with the Baroque orchestra Capriccio Basel as well as with the Bachkollegium Zürich. |
