The Italian organist and choral conductor, Giacomo Benedetti, studied piano with R. M. Scarlino and Organ and Organ Composition at the Conservatorio “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence with M. Mochi, obtaining the diploma in Organ with G. Libertucci and the II Level Degree with honours at the Conservatorio Cherubini with G. Clavorà Braulin (Class of 2018). At the same time he attended the courses of M. Imbruno, organist of the Oeude Kerk in Amsterdam and the Orchestra Conducting courses of Piero Bellugi. He participated in important master-classes with Dionisi, Ton Koopman, Tamminga, Gustav Leonhardt, Imbruno, Alfonso Fedi, Wolfgang Zerer, Pauw, Bouvard, Perugi, and won a scholarship from the Associazione J.S. Bach di Modena as the best student. He is currently attending Alfonso Fedi's Harpsichord course at the Conservatorio. He has participated in various competitions for Piano and Organ, obtaining first prizes and placings.
Giacomo Benedetti is titular organist in the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte and in the Chiesa di S. Felicita (since 2016), he was a collaborator organist in the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, in the Chiese di Orsanmichele and Chiese di S. Marco and in the Chiesa Anglicana di St. Mark’s. He has worked in several productions as a Collaborating Master at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (since January 2017) and the Conservatorio. He carries out intense concert activity as a soloist and accompanist on the piano, harpsichord and organ, as an ensemble musician and with orchestras, in events and festivals in Italy and abroad (Japan, Mexico, Germany and Finland), and has participated to some CD recordings.
Giacomo Benedetti has also had some experience as Choral Director (Coro dell’Università di Firenze; Coro Harmonia Cantata; Schola Cantorum della Chiesa Luterana e Anglicana; Ensemble Capriccio Armonico). He currently lives in Florence, Italy. |
