The German soprano, Constanze Backes, studied singing at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen, in London with Jessica Cash and privately with Hea-Soon Park.
In 1993 Constanze Backes sang Barbarina with John Eliot Gardiner in W.A. Mozart’s Figaro in Paris’ Châtelet and in Amsterdam as well as for Deutsche Grammophon Archiv. Likewise she recorded under John Eliot Gardiner for Deutsche Grammophon Monteverdi’s L'Incoronatione di Poppes (Valetto) and W.A. Mozart’s Zauberflöte (Pappagena).
Constanze Backes has worked with renowned conductors as Paul McCreesh, Hermann Max, René Jacobs, Ludger Rémy, Robert King, Nicholas McGegan, and with ensembles as Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, Musica Fiata, Weser-Renaissance, Gabrieli Consort, Monteverdi Choir, Deutsche Händel-Solisten and Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem. She inspired the public in two concerts at the Göttinger Händel-Festspielen 1998. |
