The Finnish organist, organ pedagogue and church musician, Christian Ahlskog, studied organ playing at the University of Applied Sciences in Novia, Pietarsaari as a student of Dan Lönnqvist from 1996 to 1999. In the years 1999-2004 he studied at the Sibelius Academy as a student of Kari Jussila and completed his A degree with excellent grades in 2004. He graduated with a Master of Music from the Sibelius Academy's Church Music department in 2005. In the years 2004-2006 he studied organ playing at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Pieter van Dijk and playing clavichord and harpsichord as a student of Menno van Delft. Also in Amsterdam, he completed both an organ diploma and a master's degree in music. In addition, he is familiar with improvisation, e.g. Led by Kaj-Erik Gustafsson and Anders Bondeman. In 2005, he won 1st Prize at the Alkmaar International Schnitger Organ Competition in Holland.
In his concert series, Christian Ahlskog has performed the entire organ output of several organ composers, e.g. Felix Mendelssohn, César Franck, Franz Liszt, A.G. Ritter and J.S. Bach's organ works. From 2006 to 2014, he worked as a church musician in the Swedish congregation of Kokkola until he started in the fall of 2014 as an organ lecturer and line director of church music at the Oulu Conservatory. He is a member of the church's organ expert group and is also involved in several organ building projects as a consultant and supervisor. In 2016, he was awarded the Organum club's rotating prize. He will perform all of J.S. Bach's organ works in his series, which includes a total of 19 concerts during the years 2023-2025. |
