The meaning of Bach's vocal music for today

The current state of the world makes the vocal music for church that Bach wrote very meaningful to me.

Bach lived in the aftermath of the Thirty Years War. The effects of that war were still felt by the people in Bach’s time, who also had to live with the consequences of the damage that war did to the environment.
