Johann Gottfried Weidler was born the son of Christian Weidler (pharmacist in Kölleda). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 1, 1736; studied there from 1736 to 1737, since October 4, 1735 already as external; and at Universität Jena from 1738. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his stidies, he worked as Court musician in Gotha (demonstrable in 1745)? |
