Polykarp Gottlieb Wagner was born the son of Johann Jacob Wagner (Pastor in Pegau). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on December 16, 1746; studied there from 1746 to 1754, previously already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1752. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he worked as substitute from 1756 and Pastor from 1759 in Elstertrebnitz. |
