Johann Heinrich Sturm was born the son of Johann Heinrich Sturm (schoolmaster in Gundorf). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 2, 1745; studied there from 1745 to 1750; and at Universität Leipzig from 1751. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. He received his ordination in Merseburg in 1763; and worked as Pastor in Oberthau from 1763. |
