Johann Heinrich Seymann was born to Andreas Seymann (bailiff in Leipzig). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 13, 1730; studied there from 1730 to 1736; and at Universität Leipzig from 1735. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “incompetent, not at all musical”. |
