Christian David Seyffert (Pastor, Bach's Pupil)

Born: November 8, 1715 - Güldengossa, near Leipzig, Saxony, Germany
Died: August 11, 1775 - Großengottern, Thuringia, Germany

Christian David Seyffert [Seyfarth] was born to Christian David Seyffert (Pastor in Güldengossa). HAe studied at the Lateinschule in Halle (Saale) from 1727; enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on April 24, 1731; studied there from 1731 to 1739, since June 30, 1729 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1739. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. He became Magister in Wittenberg (1741), Exam in Dresden (1747), Herrnhut (1748), ordination in Leipzig (1751). He worked as Pastor Großengottern, Thuringia from 1751 until his death in 1775.
