Frederick Schreiber (Composer, Arranger)

Born: January 13, 1895 - Vienna, Austria
Died: January 15, 1985 - New York, New York, USA

The Austrian-American organist, choirmaster, and composer, Frederlck (actually: Friedrich) C. Schreiber, studied piano, cello, and composition in Vienna.

After teaching at the Conservatory in Vienna from 1927 to 1938, Frederlck Schreiber emigrated to New York, and was organist and choirmaster of the Reformed Protestant Church from 1939 to 1958.

Among Frederlck Schreiber's orchestral works are 7 symphonies (1927-1957); The Beatitudes, symphonic trilogy for Orchestra and Chorus (1950); Christmas Suite (1967); Images (1971); Contrasts (1972); 2 piano concertos; Cello Concerto; 2 violin concertos; Variations on a German Folksong (1974); numerous choral pieces; chamber music, including 2 string quintets, 7 string quartets, Piano Quartet, and 3 piano trios;

much organ music.
