Born: May 6, 1711 - Lengenfeld (Vogtland), Saxony, Germany
Died: not determined |
Johann Gottfried Sachse was born to Georg Heinrich Sachse (organist in Lengenfeld). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 4, 1726; studied there from 1726 to 1733, since September 1725 already as external; at Universität Leipzig from 1733; and at Universität Jena from 1735. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730) “not yet ready to be used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. |
