Christian Siegmund [Sigismund] Röder was born to Christian Röder (schoolmaster in Wölkau). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 23, 1730; studied there from 1730 to 1736; and at Universität Leipzig in 1736. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August, 23, 1730): “not yet ready tbe used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. |
