Johann Gottlieb Rausch was born the son of Christoph Rausch in Düben. He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on January 28, 1738; studied there from 1738 to 1747; and at Universität Leipzig from April 20, 1747. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. He obtained his Magister degree in 1751, Exam in Dresden in 1751, Magister degree in Wittenberg in 1753. After his studies, he worked as Pastor in Großtreben from 1753. |
