The Austrian pianist, Karl-Hermann Pillney, attended the Oberrealschule. After the exams in 1915, he studied at the Conservatory of Köln, and in 1923 received his diploma as a concert pianist.
Karl-Hermann Pillney undertook concert tours in Europe and overseas. In 1925 he received an appointment at the Rheinische Musikschule Köln. Starting from 1930 he was a concert pianist, professor and director of a master-class for piano playing at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Köln. Among his pupils were Jürg Baur and Eckart Sellheim.
Karl-Hermann Pillney took then the task of handling and publishing early music, in particular, of J.S. Bach and other composers. In 1927 he met and married Elisabeth Feldmann, with whom he had two children. He spoke fluently English and French. |
