Born: June 9, 1710 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany
Died: not determined |
Johann Christoph Öser [Ößer, Oeser] was born to Johann Georg Oeser (tailor in Leipzig). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on December 8, 1727; and studied there from 1727 to 1735. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “incompetent, not at all musical”. He applied unsuccessfully for the position of collaborator at the Thomasschule in Leipzig in 1739. |
