Benjamin Gotthold Meiner was born the son of Gottwald Meiner (schoolmaster in Schkeitbar). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 31, 1739; studied there from 1739, since April 28, 1737 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1744. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
