August Lincke was born the son of Gottfried Lincke (butcher in Rötha). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 11, 1744; studied there from 1744 to 1750; and at Universität Leipzig from 1750, obtaining his Magister degree in 1754. As a Thomaner he was in Choir II from May 17, 1744 (Pentecost) to June 6, 1745 (Pentecost). Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his sdtudies, he worked Rector in Königsbrück from 1757; Pastor in Neukirch from 1771. |
