Johann Christian Lepper [Leppert] was born to Johann Martin Lepper (official in Leipzig). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on December 29, 1728; and studied there from 1728 to 1731; and at Universität Leipzig in 1731. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “usable for 1st Choir (figural music)”. |
