Friedrich Immanuel Krause was born the son of Johann Krause (teacher in Delitzsch). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 3, 1736; and studied there from 1736, since March 12, 1736 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him.
