Johann Benjamin Köppelin was born the son of a shoemaker in Leipzig. He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 3, 1741; studied there from 1741 to 1743, since November 18, 1734 already as external. He died as alumnus. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
