Johann Friedemann Kern was born the son of Johann Friedrich Kern (Deacon in Thamsbrück). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on February 5, 1736; studied there from 1736 to 1745, since September 17, 1735 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from October 7, 1744; and at Universität Jena from 1746. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
