Johann Christoph Keller was born to Christoph Keller (cloth makerin Grimma). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 4, 1726; and studied there from 1726 to 1734, since March 28, 1726 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “not yet ready to be used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. |
