Johann Christian John [Jahn] was born the son of Christian John (blacksmith in Reinsberg). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 19, 1741; studied there from 1741 to 1746; and at Universität Leipzig in 1742 and from 1740. As a Thomaner he was in Choir IV (in St. Peter's Church) from May 17, 1744 (Pentecost) to June 6, 1745 (Pentecost). Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. He died as a theology student. |
