Gottlob Friedrich Hildebrand was born the son of Christoph Hildebrand (cooper in Leipzig). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on September 25, 1736; studied there from 1736 to 1745, since January 18, 1734 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1743. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
