Johann Friedlieb Hey was born the son of Johann Nicolaus Hey (taylor in Leipzig). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on September 13, 1734; studied there from 1734 to 1736, since February 10, 1733 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
