Gottfried Wilhelm Hendel was born the son of Johann Wilhelm Hendel (Rector in Adorf). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on December 28, 1735; and studied there from 1735 to 1745, since November 19, 1735 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he worked as Kantor in Adorf from 1753. |
