Friedrich Wilhelm Geringmuth was born the son of Friedrich Geringmuth (businessman in Dresden). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 13, 1740; studied there from 1740 to 1749; and at Universität Leipzig from 1749. As Thomaner he was in Choir II from May 17, 1744 (Pentecost) to June 6, 1745 (Pentecost). Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he worked as Pastor in Rückersdorf, Bavaria from 1763 and Wilschdorf from 1789. |
