Henry Geehl (Composer, Arranger)

Born: September 28, 1881 - London, England
Died: January 14, 1961 - Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England

The English composer and teacher, Henry Ernest Geehl, was a pupil of R.O. Morgan. In 1919 he was appointed a professor at Trinity College of Music in London.

Henry Geehl wrote a Symphony; Violin Concerto; Piano Concerto; pieces for brass band, including Cornwall and Cornish Rhapsody, pedagogic piano pieces; songs. His name is familiar to those concerned in Britain with music for brass bands, for which he made many arrangements and transcriptions. Among other compositions his song For you alone has held a place in tenor repertoire, and was, reputedly, the only song in English to be sung by Caruso.
